You may have noticed that I have added an author image each post. This was done for two reasons: I like the personal effect and I now have multiple authors.
It’s really quite simple to add the author picture if you’re using WordPress gravatars (which you probably are, even if you don’t know it – I didn’t!). First, go to Gravatar.com and log in with your WordPress email address and password. You may have to set up an account if you’ve never been before. However, you should have a picture. If you don’t, upload one now.
Now, simply add the code below into one of your templates to get a picture by your posts. Try making a new <div> in you stylesheet to put this in, say “authorimage”.
<?php echo get_avatar( get_the_author_email(), '50' ); ?>
Since gravatars are squares, the number in the single quotes (in this case, 50) is the number of pixels of how big your image will be. Replace this to fit your page.
As you may well know, I enjoy desktop customization. Seemingly every few weeks, I must completely redesign the look, feel, and sometimes functionality of my desktop.
This time, I decided to add bookmarks straight to my desktop. A few days ago, I posted an article on how to show only the favicons in the Firefox bookmark toolbar, and I thought that it would be neat to add similar bookmarks to the desktop.
Using Stardock’s ObjectDock, I simply created a new dock and placed it the top right corner. I then used the “Web 2.0″ icon set to add internet shortcuts straight on the desktop!
I have just redecorated my Firefox, both changing the theme and bookmarking. I changed the theme to “Phoenity Reborn”. It’s simple, but colorful, and very smooth.
Next, I removed all wording from my Firefox boomark toolbar favorites, so I only see the favicon. If you like simplicity, or need to save space, you may consider removing the “Name:” from your favorites.

I’ve tried online calendars, task managers, cell phones, PDA’s, and many more devices to manage my to-do’s. However, my conclusion is that nothing is better than simple pen and paper. Making this portable, easy to access, and easy to remember is another story.
Here is a quick way to manage to-do’s and short notes on the go with only a stapler and a few index cards. Simply fold the index cards together in half and staple the inside of the cards (preferably twice to maintain durability). The best thing about using the cards is that it’s ultra-portable. Simple slide it into your pocket or wallet so that you will have it anywhere.
Friend of mine made an apple pie and wanted to show it off. Told her I’d put it on the blog…too bad I won’t be getting to taste this one after it’s cooked….

I have submitted my desktop to the “Lifehacker Desktop Show and Tell” group on Flickr.
I used Rainlendar and ObjectDock to create it. Follow the links below to learn more.
Simple test from the game to make sure Flickr’s photo blog tool is working correctly! It is, and more to come on that later.
